e love to travel, take unusual tours, and we've determined what makes a great tour guide are three things: Command of the facts... a knowledgeable tour guide loves his or her subject and knows everything there is and more about it.
They must be passionate about their topic, town, or whatever they are showing you. We've discovered that the best guides are usually not in it for the money as one tour guide told me (a retired engineer and business owner who just loves to guide), but has this need to want to tell the local stories and pass this history and heritage along to others.
And the third important quality is entertainment. A guide doesn't have to sing and dance, but they should be able to tell a good and compelling story. You'll understand what we mean when you watch the video.

Just click on the camera at left. This movie features our trip to Nashville, the cradle of authentic American music otherwise known as "country." The two guided tours we joined were completely different. One featured a wonderfully knowledgeable gentleman who clearly had an abiding love for music, and knew absolutely factual information about everything he covered. He was a delight.
The second tour we took in Nashville was the famous Jugg Sister's Nashville Trash Tour. These girls didn't just dish the local country stars and their legendary exploits. They were downright entertaining. They sang and kept the bus laughing for the entire tour. We later found out that some famous people including members of NBC's Today Show were guests of the Jugg's and had been interviewed by Katie and Al.
Our video is just 25 minutes long, and we hope you'll enjoy it.
